When it came time for LA based Welsman to choose the repertoire for 14, her new album (September 2022), she realized that searching for material was not only pleasant, but that the final choices turned out to be a musical autobiography including landmark pieces, each with a special meaning, evoking memories of different times in his life and career.

“At a time when the world seems upside down, I truly believe that music is essential in helping to soothe the myriad of emotions we feel every day. It was for this reason that I was thrilled to put on my creative cap and arrange and record my 14th album. Most melodies, real melodies

“jazz”, are complex and stimulating with many chromatic passages, and we really had a blast recording them” – Carol Welsman

Co-produced by Carol and Romano Musumarra, 14 is a record full of beauty and hope and is undoubtedly Welsman’s most personal record. She is accompanied by her long-time Quebec friends, guitarist Pierre Côté, bassist Rémi-Jean LeBlanc and drummer Jim Doxas on half of the 12 tracks.
